What it’s like to work with me
First things first: I don’t do 5-step programs or hand out cookie-cutter advice. Your business is unique, and so are you!
Our work will be a partnership based on mutual trust and respect. You tell me about your goals and challenges. I’ll offer specific, actionable guidance — and the occasional thought-provoking question — to help you move forward.
Most new clients start with about 6 hour-long sessions, which is about how long it takes to develop a sustainable marketing plan. The contents of each session will vary based on your needs and stated goals, but I’ve included some common session topics below.
Define your unique skills, talents, and strengths
We’ll identify the ingredients of the brew that is you — the special blend of talent, experience, and spice that only you bring to the table. We’ll also talk about how those traits provide tangible value for your clients.
Don’t think you have anything special to offer? You do, my friend. You do. We’re going to find out together, and most of the time, we can do it in a single session.
Key outcomes and deliverables:
A clear list of the skills, talents, and strengths that differentiate you from the competition
A map of how those traits relate to something clients want
A recording of our session to refer back to at any time
Identify your best clients and how to reach them
We’ll get to know your ideal clients — who they are, what they care about, and what they’re struggling with. We’ll talk about where and how to reach them, as well as the types of messages that are most likely to resonate.
If you aren’t sure who your ideal clients are, or if your current clients are very different from the clients you actually want, this work can be incredibly clarifying.
Key outcomes and deliverables:
A clear picture of your best clients, how to reach them, and key messages for each client type
A client personas worksheet with just the right level of detail
A recording of our session to refer back to at any time
Craft an authentic, non-sleazy elevator pitch
The question: “So, what do you do?” can send otherwise intelligent, articulate people into a mumbling tailspin, but don’t worry! Somewhere in that awkward string of words, there’s a powerful story waiting to be discovered. We’re going to find it.
Key outcomes and deliverables:
A short, one-line pitch that makes clients say, “Yes! I need that!”
A longer story for your website, bylines, or speaking gigs
Talking points that emphasize your strengths without sounding overly self-promotional
A recording of our session to refer back to at any time
Build a sustainable, actionable marketing plan
This work typically comes after we’ve talked about your strengths, ideal clients, and story. We’ll identify 3-4 marketing activities you can do to reach potential clients.
We’ll tailor the plan to your preferences. Love social media? Great. Loathe social media? Also great.
Key outcomes and deliverables:
A marketing plan that won’t take over your life
Messaging that feels authentic
A template you can use to plan and prioritize future activities
A recording of our session to refer back to at any time
